HOW TO NOT GET BUSTED IN NEED FOR SPEED™ UNBOUND

The cops are intent to stop you doing your thing. Find out how to avoid getting busted and keep hold of your hard-earned Bank.

When you’ve raced hard to earn the cash and buy those new rims you’ve set your heart on, the last thing you want to happen is for that Bank to get taken by the cops. It’s not always plain sailing on the streets of Lakeshore and the cops are out to stop you, so use this as a guide to keep the cops off your green! Remember, if you get busted, whatever Bank they find in your pockets will be theirs to take. The cops aren’t shy either, they’ll be showing up on any occasion including mid-race, so look out, act smart, and you’ll stay one wheel ahead.

Each cop vehicle in NFS Unbound has strengths and weaknesses and if you want to avoid getting busted, you’ll need to know your Charger from your Camaro and plot your escape accordingly. The cops want to take you down, and if they bust you, you’ll lose your cash! Here are some tips for how you can avoid getting busted!

Bank your Bank:

Why do you think they call it Bank? Every race gives you Heat. Choose to take on less races and you’ll gain less Heat and get an easy ride home, but you’ll also earn way less cash. Most street racers prefer to live on the edge, taking on more races and building their Heat before outrunning swarms of cops to get to the nearest spot to stash their big payout. Balancing risk with the rewards is just one of the many challenges you’ll face every day in Lakeshore and the choice is yours how far to take it. Just keep in mind that the only way to keep your cash safe is by heading back to the Garage.

Word on the street: “Heat level 1 ain’t a problem. Basic cops will be on your tail using Dodge Chargers to try and get you busted.”

Outrun, outmaneuver, outbattle:

There isn’t just one way to make your escape in NFS Unbound. Go fast, go smart, or go hard to get out of sight when the flashing lights try to disrupt the party. Keep in mind what cop vehicles are chasing you and use everything you’ve got in your custom to get away. Head off-road in your mean 4x4 or blow them away with Burst Nitrous, the choice is yours.

Be ready for max Heat:

When you hit max Heat (that’s Heat level 5), the cops will be relentless enough to call in the heavyweights. Raptors will descend on your custom, joining the choppers and other cops in pursuit. Going fast may not be enough here, so dive into new underground areas, duck under bridges, and make use of the urban jungle to outwit the flying feds and their friends.

Word on the street: “You gotta be fast to get away with level 3 Heat. High speed Corvettes are pretty tough to lose, even for Lakeshore’s toughest street racers.”

Know the cop vehicle’s weaknesses:

There’s probably going to be a time when the cops get the better of you. As your Heat Level increases new units are added to the chase and at the end of events you are reminded of tactics to help make your escape. Each vehicle has its own strengths and weaknesses so don’t get caught slipping as paying extra attention could be the difference in getting that new upgrade or seeing your bank balance take a tumble!

Need for sneak:

There’s plenty of occasions when going fast is your best option, but sometimes fast thinking is better than fast driving. The spotting meter fills up faster with higher Heat, meaning you’ll need to do more than outrun the cops to ensure your escape. Make yourself harder to spot by switching off your engine, use auxiliary gadgets to increase your spot time, and keep an eye on the minimap to avoid vision cones and stay out of the cops’ gaze.

Cause some chaos:

Cops can be fooled into making mistakes that will give you the jump on them. Make sudden changes of direction, pull unexpected J-turns, and drive into oncoming traffic to give your pursuers the slip.

Word on the street: “Heat level 5 ain’t a joke. Choppers, huge Ford Raptors, and Camaros form an all-out assault to spoil the party.”

Not finding the right level of challenge? No problem:

Some street racers enjoy the thrill of the chase more than others. Changing the difficulty level of the game adjusts the top speed of cops, as well as how likely they are to spot you. Looking for the cops to be less likely to spot you, adjust the level to ‘relaxed’. Adjusting the difficulty level to ‘intense’ will place much more vigilant cops on the streets of Lakeshore.

Cooling down:

As the sun sets, you’ll find more higher heat events with bigger payouts (who doesn’t love taking a risk for more green?). Many street racers are nocturnal, only coming out when they sniff a big Bank payout, the cops are smart to this and will happily bust a few wallets before the night is out!

Feeling the Heat a little too much? Return to the Garage at night, lay low until the morning and reset your Heat to zero. Another way to reset your Heat is to get busted, but who wants that?
