Forum Images Banned?

Just wanted to have a bit of a whine, wasn't sure where to put it?

My gripe is, why would you disallow images in signatures on the forums? There's a whole website dedicated to player graphics that is now pretty much pointless

    Ahhh sweet explanation mate.

I don't understand the issue in having the ability to show off your stats in your forum signature. Fair enough no one likes massive images, but a simple pixel limit would easily fix that problem...

I'm not asking for work-arounds, I'm asking why the option was removed.

Obviously because people could abuse it, and it's not a feature worth keeping when it comes to trouble like that.

I'm a member of several forums that I regularly visit on a daily basis, none of them allow images in your forum signature, and I think they get along just fine - this forum included.

If you're really worried about showing off your stats to people THAT badly, again, put a link to your BFTracker profile in your sig. Many people on here do it.

As stated above there are lots of simple ways to make sure people don't abuse said feature.

That's fantastic and I'm very happy for you, I never said we absolutely cannot live without it, I just don't see why it would be removed, especially with all the work people might put into their graphics

That just seems like a pain in the ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, and again, another work around.

Banning people everyday because they put up images that break ToS is not a valid method to keep the feature abuse-free - it doesn't matter if you put a pixel limit on it, people will still abuse it. There are WAY too many trolls on these boards.

Just because people put work into their graphics does not mean a forum should conform to allowing them to use said graphics. That's like saying I put a lot of work into playing guitar, so I should be able to play guitar for Metallica.

Really? A pain? Literally, give me your username and platform right now and I'll give you a link to your BFTracker profile in less than THIRTY SECONDS.

So the people who do the right thing get punished and have their features removed so we can conform to the lowest common denominator.

It's more of a kick in the teeth for the people who have put work in.

Have you not heard the saying "One bad apple ruins the whole bunch"?

It's just like trolls who get legitimate threads closed.

Well, really - if you put work into making graphics for this specific forum without even seeing if you could use images in your forum sig first, it's really your fault.

Again - that would be like me playing guitar for 18 years (which I have been), and then being mad when I tell Metallica I want to play for them and they say no.

Had we met under different circumstances I feel like we would've gotten along great

Not sure what you mean that they arent allowed. I just checked my signature settings and it states "Use up to 1 image. Images will be scaled to a maximum height of 40px. Signatures can be up to 120 characters long."

must be it's there for me too. or does my sig image not show for you?

It's not simple to check images are suitable. Someone would have to check every signature image, over and over again. trust me, you should have seen some of the images people used on battlelog. I sincerely doubt hundreds of people would have been happy opening a thread and being greeted with child pornography before we got to it. (It's certainly not something I would wish for anyone to see.)

    I understand that completely.

I feel like there should be a better way than just banning sigs unless you're a moderator though.

Perhaps make it so you have to be a part of battlelog/forums for a certain amount of time, or even make it so you have to have a certain post count before you're trusted with the privilege

The thing the worries me the most is not even the forum mods seem to know whats going on?
