The 17th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) is a Battlefield 4 tactical realism unit based on a Marine Corps Marine Expeditionary Force (Special Operations Capable). We strive to create an immersive experience where we excel in stressful and challenging environments. As a Realism unit we work to maintain a professional, disciplined, capable, and adaptable group.
The 17th MEU uses the U.S. Marine Corps rank structure. While in game we maintain a well structured, well organized unit. Out of game while in party we do not use rank as everyone in the unit is a member on equal footing. We consider in game like being “on the clock” where we are prepared to take and execute orders from higher command. Out of operation is a much more relaxed environment akin to being off base out of uniform.
Recruit Training will be the first thing a member completes in the Unit. Recruit Training is a course that makes sure the member has basic knowledge and can function within the unit. After a recruit completes training they are promoted to a private within the unit, then they will begin the School of Infantry (SOI). SOI is broken down into 2 days and covers all the basics you need to know to perform specific unit tasks while in mission. For all members who are not in an infantry role, we offer a shortened course known as Marine Combat Training (MCT). At MCT privates will learn basic skills before moving on to their more specialized training. We strive to get new members through RT, SOI, and MCT as quickly as possible so they can start playing in operations immediately.
A Marine expeditionary unit (MEU) is the smallest Maine air-ground task force. It encompasses a Ground combat element, Aviation combat element, and Logistics combat element. Our Unit is based on Battalion Landing Team 1/7, which encompasses our infantry platoon. Within the platoon you will see a variety of roles available. In addition to our infantry platoon, we offer the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, our aviation combat element for the MEU. Within the 3rd MAW you can expect to fly primarily rotary airframes, but fixed wing is an available asset. We also offer helicopter support teams, or crew chief roles.
