Hello,
----
Thanks for visiting this thread. I want to discuss a way to unlock weapon based assignments after a game has been superseded by a newer version or is about to be superseded. Assignment Unlocks require patience, time, resources and help from the community to unlock successfully. Also, they are to bring a fun level of challenge to you as a player of Battlefield. However, one cannot unlock them on their own alone. When Battlefield 4 has been superseded by Battlefield 1 it becomes prohibitive to successfully accomplish those assignments do to natural attrition of online first person shooter game(s) that have been or about to be superseded. Please keep an open mind when reading the following.
----
Once a Battlefield game has or is about to be replaced by a newer version all remaining assignment unlock weapons should go on sale. That sale could either be a monetary price or one of established in game “credits” offered. Another idea would be changing the assignment to something more liberal. For example, play 10 matches of X and unlock assignment Y. Or, something that may not require a lot of time and resources to implement.
----
As you already know attrition in a first person shooter game make it prohibitive to complete assignments once we have reached or about to reach supersession a current or favorite Battlefield game. Which makes it prohibitive to complete. The purpose of this proposal is to allow easy access to assignment based items in Battlefield and assures the community that EA/Dice is aware and willing to accommodate attrition as a whole.
----
Therefore, I propose the following as a “fast track” method to accomplishing those assignments and still keep to community’s best interest.
----
1. Make assignment weapons purchasable only during times of supersession of a Battlefield Game.
2. Methods can be through purchase IE: BF4 $0.99 per assignment. BF1 $1.99 per assignment.
3. Other methods can be in game credits. To be determine in value based on the above set pricing.
4. Or include the entire assignment tree. Pricing BF4 $3.99. Pricing BF1 $5.99.
----
This is only for periods of supersession of a Battlefield game. THIS IS NOT INTENDED DURING THE NORMAL PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE of Battlefield game currently released to the public to play online.
I thank you for your time.

Why not? I think the MPX or something in BF4 had you play Chain Link. And that mode was dead almost immediately. It was so hard for me to find enough games to unlock this weapon. I can't imagine now.

I didn't think I would be the only one who would see new life in a game once those assignment based weapons were made easily accessible during this life cycle of BF1 and BF4. Heck, eve BF3.

Make sense and would allow games to still keep a decent amount of enticement to play again. I was fortunate to unlock all the DLC guns in BF4, what a ball ache some were especially the Gol Magnum.

I still don't have that damned Gol Magnum. Even though I'm thinking about playing a bit of BF4 on the PC, I'll never unlock that bloody rifle at this rate.

I unlocked the L115 without knowing it somehow!! To me the worst was the Gol Magnum took not overly longtime but it certainly was very infuriating and anger inducing. The British SA80 or what ever in game was stupid, a grenade, a defibrillator and a kill with something else all in 1 round!!

To be honest, if the price structure cannot be implemented I would be more then appreciative to have them gifted.

Well this far past BF4's life span everything should be unlocked.

That is my thoughts exactly. However, I think we something more official when it comes to games that have diminished in normal player counts. When we know of a date for a beta or demo of a replacing BF game we should get the assignment gear should be unlocked and available for use. You know something like that.
I am completely open to just having them unlocked.

Wow thanks. I hope Dice consider's it. Even if they offer the assignments for free.
Do they frequent this forum? Mod's have they been alerted to this thread?

I mean after the main life cycle of the games less players means less maps played which mean unlikely to unlock certain weapons. Giving them away as free is perfectly exceptable at this point.

Honestly I agree with you. Before the recent updates that changed BF1 completely, I was unlocking DLC guns since I had not played in a while. And since the latest patch I have not touched BF1, and am worried about the player base already being fractured/declining from the split DLC. The guns I am worried about requires game modes that are unpopular ( supply drop and war pigeons ) to be played to completion. It was pretty recent that I checked the server browser for these modes and it was mostly empty. For such a relatively "new" game, that drop off is pretty worrying.

i'm pretty sure no weapon assignments in BF1 are connected to game modes, the Specialisation assignments do have a connection to game modes.

Perhaps not specific game modes, but there are assignments that are either impossible or not conceivably feasible in certain modes.

The Farquhar Hill Optical required squad orders, which can’t be done in TDM or War Pigeons.

The lMG 08/18 Suppressive requires 100 Resupplies in a round. It’s not strictly impossible but completing this in any of the 12v12 modes (except perhaps Rush) seems unlikely. It’s not feasible in something like Domination though.

The Vetterli-Vitali Carbine, Maschinenpistole, M1917 MG Low Weight, and RSC SMG Optical have challenges based around vehicles. Many game modes don’t have proper vehicles and completing these challenges by destroying mortars may not be feasible (or in the case of the Maschinenpistole, impossible as this specifically required boats).

BF1 may not have weapons gated behind specific game modes, but many of them are game mode restrictive or even map restrictive (e.g. only maps that have boats).

Assignments and Specializations are indeed the focus here. Hopefully freely given. If it must be stipulated at least consideration is given to those who already paid for Premium and Ultimate. r

The thing is specialisations are free for everyone to unlock and can be unlocked by everyone anyway. Weapons can’t unless they own premium. But this far into the life and as a premium player it wouldn’t bother me if the weapons were given free because whilst I don’t think there OP they are some good weapons.

Oh right guess I got confused, I wish there was the requirements for specializations on battle log they aren't even available to select in the loadout! That's another complaint I've had with BF1, the whole game was designed to be much more simple. You could see it in its entire design with the UI and its frosted glass background on white text, remember when people complained about not being able to see 5hit on the spawn screen? I wish there was feature parity from the old battle log of BF4, so I could track my progress better.
