As title states. Do we get an updated engine 3.5 or 4.0. Anyone has this info? I think it's 3.5 as new consoles will not be released till 2019-2020. Probably Frostbite 4.0 will be released with new consoles. What do you think guys?

Since it appears that the limits of the current Frostbite 3 engine are still being pushed, it stands to reason that version 4 is still a bit off. Version 3 has matured a lot since its first debuted for BF4 back in 2013. Can definitely be a good thing as it should limit the amount of bugs we seen in the new game from a mature engine.

May be this is funny, but everything new in BF5 they can add in BF4 and BF1, because of same engine.

The frostbite engine is no longer publicly numbered. The last one we know publicly was frostbite 3. I more curious at the fact nvidia not amd is the supporter for the new battlefiled , ehat does that mean in terms of mantle and directx 12 and driver support.

People tend to think of game engines like it's Word but in game engines there's no magically opening of files made on an older version. Porting features from BFV to older games will be a ton of work. Some changes could probably require you need to convert the entire game to a newer engine which could take a very long time!
