Battlefield V is apparently getting microtransactions sometime next month, according to what has been revealed recently.
Reddit user spanky088 recently posted an image on the game’s subreddit showcasing the Battlefield V Battlefield Currency. According to the image, it will be launched next month.

As EA previously confirmed that there will not be any loot boxes, the new Battlefield Currency will only be used to purchase cosmetic items, so it shouldn’t impact progression at all. As an official announcement on the matter has yet to be made, however, we cannot be certain at this time.

Maybe if they actually put things into the game that the players wanted, like true 3rd party dedicated servers, they might sale some of their games and make money.

So I work at the upgrades ( which is fun ) and they are going to give them away for 3.99 ? I bought the game for 59.99 and now it's 29.99 ? What an insult . The game is 2 months old and they are already losing it . This is a good game that should not be discounted . If they set up the RSP they wouldn't be having these problems of giving this game away . Whoever is in charge should be fired , they have no idea on how to run a premium business .

If they did this game properly they could have sold it for 120.00 a pop and they would have double the customers . 40 of my groups 50 members did not buy this game . They knew the game would not be finished and there would be no rental servers . EA is so predictable , what a shame .

i paid for the game 80€ = 91,23$. And now it's available for 30 €, on Origin. It really pissing me off! I preordered bf5. i will never preorder a game again... This is not a 30€ game! i paid for shtty DayZ standalone alpha 30 €! But BF5 is a high quality game. It shouldn't be so cheap!

The cards for the Battlefield currency will be far more expansive than the game itself......What a dumpster fire that whole game is.....

It is ok! Do you really need cosmetic items? If so, you can earn it with playing or you can buy it.... like in GTA. This is not a big deal!

It is a big deal when EA lies and tells everyone that there will be "NO Loot CRATES" in BFV.
I guess you missed that whole point.
    nice try at trolling though.

Yeah... I like the concept of purchaseable cosmetics, but lootboxes ruin it for me. If I wanted to gamble, I would just go to a casino... Won't put a cent into microtransactions if I don't get exactly what I want.

Every time I upgrade to a new Battlefield game it's like I am severely punished with a horrible beta, no rentable servers that I am used to, no Hardcore mode which kills me to no end, and all these ridiculous promises of finishing the game and providing us all the content we paid up front for? And when I beg and scream for answer every single day since before launch I am only met with the most insulting responses I have ever heard.
    .
Right now I'm beginning a campaign to teach consumers and specifically Battlefield fans or newcomers how incredibly stupid it is to buy a Battlefield game when it is new. I would like to start a new mantra that everyone can learn, something like "Never buy a Battlefield game until it is six months old." If people started adapting to that I would find it very satisfying.
    .
When RSP and hardcore mode is finally here I'm going to make an open letter on this forum to DICE / EA and all Battlefield staff, highlighting how they always see RSP and Hardcore as an AFTERTHOUGHT, that everybody should now start seeing their game as an AFTERTHOUGHT - to be considered many months after it's disgusting 'new' state.
    .
That's to begin with and there is more in the works. I have a massive chip on my shoulder with these guys now, and because we are apparently all just very stupid and uneducated, I'd like to see what we are capable of.

I don't understand EA position on rental servers. This form of extra revenue I would have thought would be something they could make a decent job of. The platoon thing they do feeds nicely into this concept.
Having had RSP in BF1 as limited as it was I'd have felt they would have improved on it for BFV.

I can only think it has to come down to money somewhere.

I also don't understand why EA couldn't do the normal Battlefield way with dedicated servers, normal and hardcore mode. Come on now EA, prioritize RSP please.

Come on think about it .... They are trying to make a cosmetics based upgrade system that can make them money on micro transitions. Which is what the entire battlefield community has been telling them to do since everyone gave up on the premium model with BF4. Remember "premium splits the community" and "no pay to win guns".

Well they are working on it, and it takes time to work out. And if we were given servers at the moment, well we would just wreck the joint. Which is exactly what happened in Hardline. 24/7 no kill hotwire servers come to mind.

They can't balance the game with in house testing they need it the hands of the public, so yes we do pay top dollar to beta test..... So how is that any different to any other game ??

And 24/7 2000 ticket Hamada servers just aren't going to work well for balancing.

The only way you are going to convince EA the need for custom servers is put you tags on and fill servers with your clan. Not until you can fill servers with your members and the general public start complaining to DICE that they are sick of getting pub stomped by platoons will you convince them that there is enough of you to provide servers for.

that's pretty much what I've been doing for the last couple of years: making sure that people are aware of all the lies and general incompetence of EA.
And the inadequate state their games are sold in.

Insurgency, sandstorm had rented servers on day one.

Oh and BF1 BFTracker population at 1 year old 25% below BF 4 at 2 year old mark. For that, I credit a robust rented server operation.
