So Rage 2 has no plans for online multiplayer. Is it another dead year of PvP MP games?

I thought it would do but now they've officially confirmed there's no plans for MP what is there? Anthem doesn't sound like it's going to be much fun for a solo player in terms of MP. I don't like BO4 and i'm fed up of BFV so it looks like another dead year for FPS games. Anyone aware of anything I might hace missed out? Actually, DOOM might be the saviour but that;s ages away.
