I think the next Battlefield is going to be a free to play live service game simply called "Battlefield", that's it, it's gonna be called Battlefield, it will probably be a modern shooter with about 80% of it's assets flipped straight from BF3 and BF4. there won't be a Single Player campaign, there will just be Multiplayer and maybe Battle Royale. also don't expect the same old 64 player formula of Conquest/ Rush/ Breakthrough formula to change, even on the next gen it will probably be the same.
expect to also have returning maps with about 1 map every 3 months or so trickled down to us, expect the game to have Fortnite style battle passes that are styled after the monthly events of the game. and what those events will be? pretty much TOW from BFV, and probably even worse, after EA realized putting effort into a thematic Battlefield like BF1 and BFV don't have a high enough invest- return in value, so expect an "event" to be a return of old map with a temporary game mode attached to it. microtransactions will be anything from XP booster packs for vehicle weapon unlocks, weapon upgrades, weapon skins and of course those stupid BFV style "Elite" skins, also expect each elite to have his or hers special emote, and since it won't be based on a real war, but be a fictionalized modern war, expect the tone of the game to be very colorful, whimsical and cartoony with really garish weapon and vehicle skins- imagine Black Ops IIII, but now the tanks have Need For Speed skins with spoilers and golden spinning rims- 19.99$ a pop.
since those skins and progression will be so personalized, expect there to not be any difference in between factions, which will probably be something like "coalition vs opposition" or "NATO vs PMC" with shared pool of vehicles weapons and elites.
expect everything to be gimped at the beginning of your progression, and progression to be very very slow and entice you to buy those XP boosts, and of course BUY THE SEASON PASS! yeah Premium will return, and this time, it will be a yearly Premium package.
people will protest, people will be angry, there will be technical issues, there will be even worse communication between fans and developers, expect people like Jackfrags to probably even move on, but EA won't care.. since "Battlefield" will be their best performing 2020 game, it will be a game tailor made for the post Fortnite generation of gamers who never played a Battlefield game before that, and every now and than EA will throw a nostalgia bone for us old folks to shut up and glee like the gullible fools we are.
I'm sorry, but Triple A is dead... the gaming landscape has changed, Modern Warfare will be the last Hoorah of the old way of making games, EA has already seen how much more lucrative a 2FP game like Apex Legends can be, so don't expect the nex Battlefield game to push boundries, to develop technology further or be something special, those type of games simply belong in the past, at least for EA they already do...
