I have never seen a worse, more corny, phoney or downright terrible representation of any war story than the one presented to us in the chapter Nordlys in BF:V.
I mean all sincerity when I say that the absolutely terrible script, direction and plot points of this story are an insult to every player of this game and every veteran and casualty of the second world war.
- Falling from a cliff into sub zero waters in full winter gear, and then proceeding to hike in that soaking gear through a blizzard is a guaranteed way of sucumbing to hypothermia and dying within MINUTES
- **** officers didn't just hold people at gunpoint indefinitely, making speeches at them and preventing them from being shot, least of all the same two people who have used those phoney, cheesey moments twice up to that point to make an escape. This is an insult to anybody who has capitulated at gun point to men who would definitely kill them. The only reason you would write this into a single script no more than 10 minutes long 3 times is if you have absolutely no skills in story telling and no imagination to come up with compelling plot points that would build a NATURAL tension and not this forced ****.
- How many times did solveig find her mother, then oh no she's at gunpoint, and then predictably a **** walks up behind her? Literally the exact same thing happened 3 times in the same order. There is absolutely NO TENSION in these scenes as the dialogue is so corny and fake the whole thing is a clown fiesta.
- A single teen girl could not possibly storm garrison after garrison of **** soldiers on her own and could definitely not have literally walked into a fortified **** bunker unimpeded. The entire premise of this mission spits in the face of the thousands of Norwegian resistance fighters who died in the sights of **** soldiers to accomplish comparatively **** ALL. A story that honoured their memory would show a resistance formed by teamwork and would inspire emotion not through some disgracefully cliche near death flashback stroll like we've seen in countless BAD video game war narratives, but would draw on the real misery that was experienced as people fought and died bitterly for every inch and minor victory, losing those close to them as their lives were ruined by **** invasion and occupation and would not need this soap opera level of **** tier trope reliance to try to cover up for the fact that we haven't had enough personality brought out of the protagonists or antagonists for us to give a flying **** about what happens to them or how they inevitably use their inhuman ability to withstand any form of physical damage to waltz their way to victory with little to no hardship.
Honestly, whoever directed the plot for this game needs firing and never rehiring for this role ever again and I mean that genuinly. Even if it wasn't an insult to the memory of fallen heroes the plot is so sickeningly bad I'm not even going to bother playing the other chapters and came here specifically to say that you should be absolutely ashamed of this drivel. Try harder because this is pathetic.
