Out of region servers

When you play on out of region servers do you have slight lag problems most noticeable in 1v1 shoot outs?

I ask because it seems like I do and I just remember playing with Japanese and KSA people on bf2 and everyone had the issue.

Wondering if I'm just being a sore loser or if this is commonplace.
