Weapons are too easy to use.

A lot of the weapons in Battlefield V are too easy to use. The recoil on assault weapons is very low, the damage output very high, and the ranged effectiveness is too strong.

This is by design. Assault is not able to sustain itself like a support, thus it must be more lethal to justify its place on the field. However, I think this is a mistake in the way we think about class roles. The assault’s role is now more vehicle killer and general demolitions. It needn’t be any more or less dangerous than any other class at average engagement ranges to justify itself.
Here are a few thoughts to adjust weapon balance to make it more equitable across classes.
1.) Remove scopes from assault and support weapons.
2.) Dramatically increase the recoil on ARs and LMGs. They should be the same while ADS but separated by better hip-fire for ARs and better stability for deployed LMGs.*
3.) Decrease the ranged effectiveness of semi-auto rifles available to the assault. The method can vary.

*general weapon balance principles should be considered as well.
For example: High capacity LMGs should have poor reload times.

Think of class combat specialties like this

Close Quarters<->Long Range

Ideal: Medic<->Assault<->Support<->Recon

Current: Assault<->Assault<->Assault<->Assault<->Recon in the boonies where they’re not worth a damn anyway.

Right now, assault dominates across all practical range categories. No one-class should be able to go from counter-sniping to CQC. A general increase in recoil across automatic and semi-automatic weapons will help make snipers and MMGs/fixed guns more dangerous. It should also help on maps where cover is scarce when crossing to an objective. If player accuracy drops, it's an indirect increase to TTK. It also should encourage greater aggression onto objectives if there's less fear of instant death and greater reward for getting in close.
TL;DR: Nerf assault. Recon only scopes. Force player confrontation into closer-range combat as a natural reaction to decreased weapon accuracy. Suddenly medics seem great, more ammo will be needed, snipers are useful, assaults are primarily demolitionists.

Only standout weapons in assault are Turner and G43. 1907 too if a tiny mag 1v1 nuke is your thing.

Otherwise they're all pretty average to below average weapons. Give those 3 lots more recoil and call it a day.

I agree with ideal situation, just would add that fifth class on the left from medic—engineer with SGs and MPs, AT launchers/dynamite sticks and tool kit box.
Support has faster barricade fortifications as trait and access to both mines, assault gets rifle grenade launchers only with current maps and medic's secondary gadget pool replaced with "medic gadgets" like stimulants etc. "temporal fighting condition buffs" and SMGs getting buffed to be rifle carbine tier in power.

Then it would be simple and rightfully balanced class system imo with OPs weapon handling proposal.

Another sniper fan that wants to hillhump and kill every support when he is prone with bipod while having minimal chances if geting hit, or even killed, get lost, remove scopes from ALL wepons and sniper have onlyiron sight, and bullet speed 500ms?what about that?

Good god man, stop complaining about something being good. We don't need this train of thought where we take something that works and nerf it down to a level where it sits among the other useless piles of crap.

Instead of asking for more handicaps, how about we ask for balancing of the other weapons to get them up to where all the assault weapons are?

This is why we can't have nice things.

Snipers are now, and will forever be useless.

Recons are really only good when using a SLR...

I use RCS with Flare/AP mines and play aggressive and it's pretty rewarding.. Two shot kills in 30meterish engagements, plus before I cap points I stock up on AP mines and I can solo hold down a point with my mines and as long as I have a house to hunker down in. I can't even stress enough on how many people i baited around corners dropped a few AP mines and slaughtered them... No one expects Recon to play like this in CQC.

Probably the only advantage a recon has in CQC is that people will underestimate you. You gotta think like a Fox when you're a aggressive Recon.... Gotta have the cunning.

The 3 other classes are fine, just a slight buff for some medic SMGs
The Assualts just need a few adjustments, not handicaps. So dont worry they will be fine.
Just tone down their long range capabilities.
They would still destroy with their explosives and do fine at mid range engagements.

This is a game with 4 classes, and it’s a balancing act. If one class does everything better than the other 3 classes, perhaps it’s worth looking at.

The semi-autos will not outperform SMGs at CQC, let's just make that clear. They're most effective at medium+ range, which is what they're meant for. By ruining accuracy, damage and aim you make them redundant. And the rest of the assault weapons DO NOT compete with snipers or LMGs in any way.

You CAN kill snipers with LMGs and semi autos at fairly long ranges, but it's not effective. A good recon will have no trouble taking out these counter snipers. Now you want to hard nerf the aim, damage and accuracy of every medium range gun in the game to make snipers untouchable (except for stationary LMGs of course which are the easiest targets).

It's very clear you want this game to be a close range clusterfuck for everyone but yourself who sits at a safe distance picking everybody off with a sniper. I'm glad DICE has a different vision for the game.

Yeah there's not much depth to the gunplay. I was expecting some CSGO AK47 type recoil patterns but nah, not even close lol.

This game is an arcade, if you want simulation go to pubg or arma. This is a mainstream shooter.

OP has played the game for less than 10 hours in multiplayer. That is not even close to a significant amount of time for you to come here and post balancing demands. You've yet to even unlock 3/4 of the guns, let alone play with them. Yes DMRs need some nerfing(specifically the g43, m1a1 and g1-5), and LMGs need significant damage dropoff after 50m. Literally everything else you posted is either incorrect or the opinion of a very new, inexperienced player. ARs are not overpowered. They are outmatched close range by SMGs, especially in hipfire fights. They are outmatched in long range by LMGs, DMRs, and evem SLRs on recon.

The only other part of assault that needs to change is that it needs to lose it's ability to spam panzerfausts/PIATs (limit one per person) and the frag grenade rifle needs to be removed from the game as it completely goes against DICEs decision to limit indirect explosive spam in BF5.

dont agree on scope part.. balancing guns via scopes is a cheap way to balance.. look at the lee enfield mk4.. very good gun but dice balanced it with a ugly fat 6x scope reticle.. in all previous bfs all guns could use all scopes like m4 could use kobra sights etc etc

The biggest problem imo is specializations. What's the point of balancing a gun around high recoil if you give 2-3 perks that all but remove it.
