Not dead yet, but without real additional content - maps game will be dead within 1 year. No cosmetics wont save it and sofar live service with 1 mp map every 4 months is total fail....
Battlefield will never die because it’s the only chaotic all out war game. Apex and fortnite gamers will get tired of same formula. Only kids play this. Real hardcore gamers will play battlefield or wow pc. The only reason why I’m on forum because I got bored of bf1 and bf5 because of no records of veterans dog tag names on my profile that I knifed and no helicopter, jet ski, and so on because of the war time frame. Bfbc2 and bf3 forever be the true real battlefield DICE handcrafted. A masterpiece. It’s not just a good game but funny fun. It’s a mix feelings of fun, laughter, innovation attack style combo, and serious, goofy, words characters say on bfbc2,and a bunch of more fun.
It's just a run and gun COD fest now. All the 'role' classes are completely homoginized, the maps are designed for either zerging or sniping.
Assault is all that matters, all the other classes have been just weaker versions since day one.
This game is rubbish, the worst Battlefield I've unfortunately played in my over 3000 online hours with this franchise.
I log in every other day to do my dailies and then quit.
I log in once a week for a session to complete the next tides of war assignments and then quit again.
This game is not fun. It's tedious. It's rewarding to just one style of play. There's no content. There's no variety.
This 'live service' model is a DISASTER
EA and DICE have tried to water down the experience to cater to a COD friendly audience, but like the old tale of the dog on the bridge who looks in the water, all they've done is alienate a large segment of the franchise fan base and lost both bones.
I'm honestly half expecting EA to just can the entire franchise after this dismal launch and put DICE onto some other project.
I saw a video on YouTube that "leaked" BF2020. It is supposedly BFBC3, With a mix of Vietnam and Modern setting, going back to the style of BF3/4. Also, it's been in development since 2017 by DICE LA. I can't verify how legitimate it is though.
I wanna care, but screw EA/DICE. I’ll never buy another BF game (until it’s been out a year a patches to be a completed game) again.
Battlefield will make a comeback, i know it for a fact!
Give us the cold war era, nit too advanced, not too old school either
I no longer trust DICE or EA.
Even after the BF4 'recovery' where the technicals were a mess (but the game core was amazing) - Battlefield 5 severely lacks the same level of depth.
This game is COD with Tanks, content lite, zero depth and a cynical, shallow experience lacking in soul. There's no meta. There's no tactical tug. All the weapons are basically the same, you can't modify anything or experiment, the tactical play is just zerg, zerg, zerg. Every map, every game mode. It's BORING!
Even at it's worst, Battlefield 4 craps on Battlefield 5 at it's (current) best.
I personally loved Battlefield One. It was a great experience all round. I know it wasn't for everyone, but I personally thought that game was pretty damn tight and apart from some of the weak combat elements (ie grenade spam and GAS) it felt pretty decent to play and kept a solid theme.
Battlefield 5 however feels like a politically driven, cynical, rushed cash grab with no other goal than a quick win for the EA share price.
Can it recover? Maybe.
But I no longer have faith in either EA or DICE to allow that to happen. EA feels like they've taken over the technical and artistic direction of the franchise and basically killed it.
I mean this is supposed to be a depiction of World War 2 for Christ' sake and we need to have female front line fighters but are scared of a friggen Swasitka?
REALLY?!
Fortunately for them, there's really no other 'large scale battle' fps experience on Xbox at the moment, else I'd have dumped this rubbish long ago and moved on.
Will never ever understand haters of BF1. Superb map design 70% of the time or more. Some of the most fun maps I have ever played. Cavalry honestly the most amazing new thing in a shooter I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I miss it a lot in this game. But if this game had the maps and the proper vibe a WW2 shooter should have it would still have been great. But it doesn't have any of that.
I'll say it again: ranking up in this game is dead. I don't think anybody cares really. Even in COD WW2 I like the skins, the HQ is cool, and the boxes are fun to open now and then. It's a more simple shooter and even faster TTK, but at least it reminds me of WW2.
Not dead but it certainly won’t have the longevity of past titles that’s for sure!
The game is bleeding players a lot faster at this stage than any other battlefield before it.
Yeah this is not even up for debate. At this point in time BF1 was hot as hell.
Not enough content the game won't recover if they keep drip feeding small amounts of content over long periods of time along with all the other problems with the title. Its SWBF2 all over again basically they didn't learn their lesson.
And no one in their right mind thinks Daddy EA cares about a free map game.

BFZzz is a snore fest. Same boring map rotation with dwindling player base. The players left are pretty good teammates or god-awful. More of the latter these days. “Soon” they keep saying... well, soon the franchise will be dead.

I wonder what people feel when they create those dumb topics.
The game isn't dead, you can launch it and see that it is alive and working.
Technically you can boot up Bad Company 2 on Xbox right this moment and it's 'working'
You may even find a game with a few people in it.
That's NOT what we're talking about when we say the game is dead though.
There's a difference between a game that's alive, well populated and active with a vibrant and motivated community and a game that's simply functional with the bear minimum of support (by both the playerbase and the development team).
Battlefield is already falling into the latter category and it's what, not even 6 months old yet?
I've seen Battlefield 4 start miserably and then become magic, but it feels like BF5 just isn't in the same league as BF4 from the very foundation.
As I said before... yes, it's COULD recover from here (and I sincerely hope it does) - but at this point in time I just don't see that happening.
This game just isn't fun to play (unless you're an Assault main CODbro).
It's a cynical cash grab done on a deeply flawed 'live service' model that doesn't feel at all like you're getting your money's worth. It feels like utter rubbish right now and I can barely tolerate just doing my weeklies (I've even given up doing my dailies now for the most part, I'm just not motivated at all to deal with the tedious frustration of playing this shell of a 'tactical' gaming experience), yet alone enjoy this endless bugged and broken dumpster fire FPS.
There's no polite way to say it, this game is utter crap and flat out, the very worst Battlefield I've ever played (and this is my 6th one on Xbox - Bad Company, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield One and now... this).

I wonder what people feel when they've got little to no comments on this board, but the ones they posted are either dumb or useless nonsense
The battlefield I love and remember is dead. Why don’t you go put a skin on your weapon and save your “dumb” comments.

Apex has better gunplay than BF5. That says alot. The guns have actual recoil. Cant say that about BF5.
The battlefield we love is dead.
