New roadmap is a freaking joke Dice. Well done with yet another failure.

BTW I blame the playerbase and studio. Ultimately, it's the studio's fault, but the player base is inept and ridiculously incompetent at understanding how things work. They will probably finally understand now though.

You can't split the community if there is no community lol. And trust me, people will be quitting this game soon enough.

I think there is quite a bit of confusion on that topic. What we know so far concerning maps is the following: Mercury in May, Marita in June-September, a remake or reimagination of a known map also in June-September. The first of the three pictures for Chapter 4 stating "new maps and modes" does not refer to more maps, but to the theme of the chapter "up close and personal", which includes Marita and the Remake as well as the upcoming modes they planned for this chapter, similar to previous chapters.
Also there is a new competitive 5vs5 mode coming in "specifically designed arenas", which is a very vague description and could mean anything from new maps, to heavily tweaked maps with known assets, to unused stuff that was scrapped or slightly altered maps, or anything in between.
    .
Now the stuff we do not yet know but are hinted at in some form:
    - A dev stated that it will feature "new maps". I would take that with a grain of salt, because what somebody writes on his private account can not be verified.
    - We got a screenshot from a dataminer of the map "Provence", which nobody would know where it is from. It was speculated that this was from a possible comp mode.
    - Another datamine actually got some info about that mode: https://www.reddit.com/r/BattlefieldV/comments/b4covb/bfv_data_mining_first_5v5_game_mode_details/ So indeed there are five maps listed exclusively for this mode and one of them is Provence. However, we do also have Rotterdam and Norway listed, which could use assets or parts of Narvik, Fjell, Rotterdam and Devastation. The only unique settings are Casquets and Provence.
    .
Now to analyze this. This does look very extensive and generous map-wise until you realize that BF1 tried to implement a competitive mode and failed miserably. That this new mode is a totally different game which will have a hard time getting accepted by the community for a thousand different reasons, and that these maps will not work in any core gamemodes, and will most likely be too small to ever get expanded upon.
So, just like Combined Arms, the SP and maybe Firestorm this might turn out to be a resource drain for the team, while not being relevant or accepted enough to the game's population.

To add to my post: Here is a timeline from Reddit showing the release dates of maps in BF games since BF3.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/BattlefieldV/comments/b1e5d2/battlefield_map_release_timelines/

Prise de Tahure and Nivelle Nights are not implemented for BF1, so that is something to keep in mind, when comparing BF1 to BFV. Also if you want to include Panzerstorm at Night, it released on Day 93 since release. Mercury will release at day 150 at the earliest, if I calculate correctly.
Of course you can also include Firestorm and add 10 maps.

If you take the time to look at this old poll which asked "Is CoD (Ghosts) better than Battlefield (3)?" what you will see is BF won by 68%, but when you look at the comments from the BF supporters, almost ALL of the great things they said about BF, are GONE, GONE, GONE.
One person waxes poetically about the "Jihad Jeep" tactic, which is gone, another talks about shooting pilots out of planes with a recon rifle (Gone).
    ===
    Just look:
"Battlefield 3's greatness lies in that there are nearly limitless ways to kill your enemies, and it rewards creativity. Want to stay old-fashioned and kill people with just your guns? Great, go ahead. Want to kill people by loading a vehicle with C4, driving it into the enemy base, jumping out and detonating it, killing everything in a giant fire ball of death? Cool. You can do that. Not only are there a ridiculous number of avenues for taking you enemies down, they're all fairly balanced... A sniper can shoot the pilots out of flying vehicles, an engineer can utterly destroy ground vehicles with RPGs or landmines. Each and every class has it's strengths, but somehow lack many weaknesses. What does Call of Duty have? Oh yeah, the same old "12 year-olds shooting each other on some guy's lawn" game. There's no variety in that. It's just killing people over and over in the same, revamped tiny a55 maps with nothing to do but point and shoot guns, which EVERY FPS offers anyway. Call of Duty's popularity is one of life's greatest mysteries.
Battlefield 3 has far more variety, not only in content, but in gameplay, than the entire Call of Duty franchise has to offer."

(I took the liberty to strike-through the things that are gone)
Many of the comments on both sides are very interesting--to see where we have made a wrong-turn.

Do we know for sure that the May map is the Crete map we are all expecting in March?

That's what has been said and that is what everyone has been led to believe.

then it seems that quality is not something they have as a priority which really sux as i always thought if anything DICE would always make sure that Battlefield games got what they deserve as it is those games that made em become as popular as they did.

EA has it's roots in Sports. It's like a burger chain buying up a Red Lobster chain and then adding burgers to the Red Lobster menu.
Why does DICE need EA to begin with? Is it like how a music artist needs a label? I'm confused on how these two polar-opposites ended up in the same bed. (Or would DICE be even worse-off if it didn't have EA cracking the whip?)

Stop with those threads about the Roadmap is bad

The roadmap looks GOOD. If you look good and READ the chapter 3 you see we get weekly rewards, Inc 6 guns. Chapter 3 is 3 months.... Every month got 4 weeks, so 12 week of rewards. That is vehicles, weapons and skins. And we get missions of combined arms, a new mode and map.
    That's all in chapter 3

And Dont forget the rewards of the ToW.

Than about chapter 4, we only know what we get in the month's but not about the weekly rewards.
And if you look good to the first month of chapter 4, you see Modes and Maps, not map. So we get more than 1 map in that month.

We get more information fast before chapter 3 is over.

WOW I should be grateful.. NOT - no new maps for nearly 4 months. Unacceptable. No new factions since release. Unacceptable.

    Panzerstorm release date Dec 5 , 2018.

This is not true. First of all this will not mean June, but is referring to the whole of Chapter 4 which most likely stretches from June 27th to September 26th, judging by the previous chapters.
What we are getting in these months for sure are Marita and the Remake urban map. The "up close and personal", "new maps and modes"-part is referring to the whole chapter, as a grand theme.
As with every other chapter we will receive another mode for the core game or two.
Additionally it refers to the new competitive 5vs5 mode, which comes in "specifically designed arenas". This is incredibly vague and could mean a lot. They are also exclusive to that mode and would not work or be expandable to core.
Further the datamine shows that this mode is a totally different game than core and is also a reimagination of BF1 incursions that never went anywhere and was not received well. Regarding this as actual content for the average player is complicated, even if the maps look nice or if the mode is received well, because it is extremely nichey and pretty closer to Overwatch and R6S than actual BFV. So you are better off not including this, especially if you are mostly into BFV core multiplayer.
If you however think that Firestorm, Coop and SP is exactly the way you want BFV to go, then the comp mode might be actual content for you.

Also to add: It was stated that we will get more info on Chapter 4 on EA Play, which happens on June 25th this year, so about a day or two before it actually starts, which sounds about right when looking at what we learned about chapter 3 just a couple of days ago.

Dude, you can still do the Jihad Jeep in BF5. People were even posting videos about it recently on Reddit. Just so you know.
