Yeah it is based on the Flettner. Helis saw quite "a lot" of use, just not in combat. They are really good for scouting, light transport, and medevac, the potential was already obvious.
It is kind of weird to me that I'd never heard of it before, but then, it wasn't used in combat at all and it saw very limited production (I think there were like less than 100 made? Might be mixing that with something else idk) so it doesn't get much coverage. It would be interesting to see it cross over to the base game, but I don't think it's very likely.
