That’s how I saw it described on the forums the week and it’s true.
There is only a minority of players enjoying it. Most people don’t like the core gameplay experience.
This is why servers are being shut down 8 months into the game’s life cycle. It’s not because of lack of content or that there is stuttering on PC or that some assignment is bugged. Or this issue or that gripe.
Unless this fact is admitted and addressed by overhauling the gameplay the player base will continue to rapidly dwindle.

You're stuck with the girl you brought to the dance at this point. You can buy her a new dress and some makeup and give her a shower. But still the same girl.
You won't get a new girl until BF6.
Then there's the low visibility issue compounding the camping even further. Players just get frustrated, bored, and find a new game to play.
Although I don't find visibility rhat much of an issue, I also agree.
The hardcore lite approach has sapped a lot of fun out of the game for too many players I fear.
Seriously...ALL shooters have campers, hello. Insta death...feels more realistic to me, so not sure where you're going on that comment.
And...at least DICE focused this battlefield more on team emphasis than in previous titles. Works great if you have a squad communicating.
Arguing for the status quo is worthless.
well, I do see BFV dying thanks to its crappy gameplay.
The number of active servers are even fewer than the very last moment of BF1.
There are reasons why ‘Core Community’ complain about campy gameplay mechanics and prone meta.
It is simple.
Doing more of the same thing will only intensify the current problem.
Sticking with the current course, pretending the original plan was sound and driving the ship deeper into the iceberg is madness.
DICE likes to start over from scratch with each new Battlefield. That approach has never been needed more than with the next one they come out with.
Can we not be critical of the game but also (somewhat) enjoy it?
There is no denying that the lackluster interest shown in the game at launch but also now, less than a year after release, is indeed related to the semi hardcore approach. But also the launch drama, lack of content, performance issues, balance etc etc.
Which is why they are backtracking some decisions made on the semi hardcore but unfortunately we are also losing content in the process (modes and servers disappearing).
Live service is the middle finger to all of us, on top of their conceptual approach to the game.
I don't find the gameplay a problem, most of the things that bother me in BFV qualify as outside issues, like the horrible Live Service business model that has provided little new content, the weak anti-cheat, the poor network performance (DICE has now admitted the "stuttering" is happening on consoles too) and of course the lack of rented servers (which they claim are coming back).
You're free talk yourself into believing that everyone but you is prone with a machine-gun, but I don't see that, most of the opponents I engage are on their feet. If this game had launched with rented servers and paid DLC resulting in many more new maps there would be a lot more people playing, and it wouldn't be necessary for guys like you to moan about the game being "campy" and blaming that for declining player counts. You can like or dislike what you please--don't assume you speak for the majority.
I could do without all the complaining with no reasoning.
Although at this point do we have to give any reasoning? Most of the reasoning has been given 1000x over. I get to the point where I just post more andmore in shorthand basically and if you want the reasons read the old posts. Bad enough that by the time you get on page 2 of any thread you get the same questions and dumb comments that were either answered or countered on the first page.
Well said. I tried very hard to enjoy bf1 and struggled through to level 50 but barely got any of my achievements done or perks unlocked. Level 150's were dominating every game, I never even saw who killed me once. My kd was around 0.2.
I was hoping BFV would be different but all the hardcore bf1 guys switched over.
I disagree
