Hello everyone,

It’s been awhile since we’ve had an in-depth discussion on Community Games, and this broadcast will provide all of the details regarding what to expect from this highly requested community feature.

To recap the news shared a couple of weeks back: Based on the feedback we’ve received from the Battlefield community, we’ve decided to rebrand this feature as Community Games to better reflect the experience we’ve built.

Throughout the year, we’ve presented the vision that we had for Community Games, and today we can discuss the complete feature set that we’ve developed. By the end of this Broadcast the goal is that you’ll be clear on what you’re getting.

The features listed below will be coming December 9, 2019 and we’ll be back in the New Year with an update on the continued development of Community Games.

Community Games are specifically designed for players who want to create a more personal experience in Battlefield V. Whether you are a content creator that wants their own space to create great stories, or you simply want to create a playlist of your favourite maps for you and your friends, this feature has something for everyone.

Make use of the custom filter system within the Server Browser to search through all of the Community Games that have been created by other players, allowing you to find the experience you’re looking for.

Personalize your Community Game with your own playlists that allow you to pick the number of rounds in your rotation and mix up the game modes (if they share the same Player Count). Choose from the list of available maps, and store all of your choices in your own set of preset configs that you’re able to save for future use.

Protect your experience with a password, or make use of the server kick functionality so that you can more closely control the experience that’s shared by your own close-knit Battlefield V community.

We set out to build Community Games in a way that allows players to have more agency and ownership in Battlefield V, and get into the matches that they want.

  • Find the right experience for you - Browse games with a custom filter set to your needs. Want to focus only on Rush? Find Rush 24/7 matches created by the community with Community Games.

  • Create a personalized experience - Create your own playlists and store them in your preset configs which can be saved for future use. Saved playlists can be applied when you create a game, allowing you to hit the battlefield faster.

  • Create a safe play space - Protect your experience with a password. Kick and ban functionality is in place so that you can build a happy community of players.

  • Play some of our time limited modes - Even when your favourite time limited experience is out of rotation, you can keep playing via your own server. (Grind and Fortress are currently not available. These modes are technically built as variants of existing modes and won’t be available in Community Games next week).

  • Continue your Battlefield journey - Weapon, vehicle, and rank progression will all stay active on non-password protected servers* so you can continue your journey.

  • Struggling to find what you’re looking for? Create your own Community Game, communicate it with friends and through social channels to keep playing.

 Community Games Feature Set

  • Create, delete, update, and name one or several configurations

  • Create and join a Community Game

  • Automatically generated server name

  • Choose game size (16, 32, 64)

  • Choose how many rounds the server should play (max 20)

  • Choose the mode

  • Choose the maps

  • Choose a password (between 3-8 characters)

  • Choose the pre-round size (how many players are needed to break out of pre-round) → Minimum of four up to whatever the game size dictates

  • Kick players from the server

  • Ban and manage banned players (session only)

  • Special Community Games filter in Advanced Search

*Password protected servers will not feature any form of progression. All other servers will allow Soldier progression. Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will not be earnable through Community Games.

With Community Games, we wanted to give our players the toolset to share the Battlefield experience with their friends. As noted, we are bringing Community Games on December 9th, 2019. We’re really excited to see what you think once you get in and create your own experience.

In our Community Broadcast earlier this year, we touched on additional features when discussing our Community Games plans. We’ve had to rescope this feature and the above listed items will be what is included in the first release of Community Games. The features listed below are not coming in the initial release of Community Games, but we’ll be back in the New Year with more information on the continued work of Community Games.

  • Set custom name for the server

  • Set description for the server

  • Control what classes are available

  • Control what weapons are allowed

Thanks for the info, some first feedback:"*Password protected servers will not feature any form of progression. All other servers will allow Soldier progression. Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will not be earnable through Community Games. " If you do not have chapter Rank XP, how you can make a successful server? People want to do weekly assignments and do those chapter Rank XP's`? Also can we set favourite server to favourites so players can spawn into it everytime when server is empty? That is required. Also things like: Custom server name should be there in the first version already... It's kinda important to show your server with the name....

So how do you access the community servers. Only through the browser? Only through an extra tab/option in the browser, or also through matchmaking?

Can I ask a couple of questions.

    1. In BF4 when there were less than 4 players, you could still deploy and the flag locations were marked (and could be taken). This made it easy, for example, to say "meet on Flag B" so we could have a mini-skirmish around specific areas. In BF1 with less than 4 players you could still deploy but the flag markers were gone so we were using landmarks "meet to the west of the tall tower next to the train track".

    a) Can we still deploy in BFV without 4 players (as per both BF4 and BF1)
    b) Are flag/objective locations marked (BF4) or unmarked (BF1)

    2. If we deploy and everyone is in a squad, how do people move to the other team if the manual change is not available? If we don't squad-up and join the server as individuals how does it determine who goes on what side. Let's say for example, that Person A is clearly the best player so it should be A vs B+C, how do we make that happen?

    Thanks,
    Brhum

Great to see this has finally arrived. Thanks for the good news. December 9th is looking good :) That feature list feels well short of what was eluded to originally though so hopefully this is something that continues to be worked on.

"Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will not be earnable through Community Games."

Why this? It makes the whole thing dead on arrival.
Because of boosting. You could easily craft rules that make farming xp much quicker and simpler.

Does the matchmaking system work with Community Games?

TOW xp is already capped at 8000xp per round. I don't see any point in any boosting activities.

Yeah, as was jsut pointed out to me, it is not just weekly ToW, but also chapter progression through ranking up. Well that is obviously for money reasons, as chapter rank boosts are the hot manure on the shop I bet, now that actual game content in on there. As ToW is always active the incentive to use custom servers for daily play is minimal therefore.
Also it means that you will not be able to matchmake into custom servers, which makes the whole concept dead on arrival, in my book.
    .
The only use I see is for private games and tournaments for all the competitive clans and scenes out there. There must be heaps of them just waiting for that.

This one will be missed on community events like FNB: -> Manually switch specific players between teams

Now the admin will have to kick players that will have to rejoin the server to balance teams in numbers and skill ...

And I would like to see a ping limit/Region lock option, otherwise the constant kicking of people will be a full time job ...

"All other servers will allow Soldier progression. Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will not be earnable through Community Games." After , I see this and very disappointed. Community Servers are the only server that we can KICK HACKER OUT SERVER BEFORE THAT NOOB ruin the game. Official servers are 100% have hacker in game. YOU JUST FORCE US TO LIVE WITH HACKER AGAIN. if you don't fix that option, i want to refund Battlefield 5. I am tired with hacker.

I'm unsure what Dice is doing with Battlefield community games, but it has nothing to do with community. This does nothing to satisfy casual or competitive clans. If anything this is should be call BF Private events.  In its current state this is a game feature that will be rarely used.

1)I see some of these features are coming down the line, but you cant call something a community game unless I can name my servers after the community I am part of. Unless its automatically generated name is from my active platoon its not my Communities game but my private server.

2)In previous Battlefield games servers were persistent, and stayed active until they were empty, but by the looks of it after 20 rounds regardless of if the server is full or not it would appear the server shuts down. Please clarify if this is just the rotation starts over or if the server actually shuts down.

3)What does Session Only mean in kicking and banning players.  This is very ambiguous. Does this mean only people active in the server can ban, or spectators ban too? Derogatory chat can be banned in server by an admin easily, but its hard to verify someone is cheating unless you watch them on spectate mode.

4)SO you cant earn weekly or chapter XP in a community server.  With this being the case no one will want to play in a community server for the first 1-2 months of a chapter.  Then for the last month of a chapter no one will play in the server Thursday through Sunday as they will be completing their weekly assignment. So essentially the servers will only be viable for 2 weeks every 3 months.

5)Special server browser.? Since this isn't integrated in the normal browser does this also mean that servers wont be seed by quick play users? This needs some clarification as aside from a few large communities no one is going noe one is going to be able to fill a conquest or 64 player server to max users.

    6) The server only has one active admin at launch? If the admin is at work, asleep, eating with family, ect how is the other community members going to remove toxic people from the server? If someone comes in the server, starts dropping racist slurs(which the chat filter does nothing to stop) how are we to remove them? If they stick around for rounds because they cant be removed it now looks like my community condones this type of behavior. At EA play it was hyped up that there would be better ways to deal with toxicity.  The best way to remove toxicity is with an active admin force.

    Features for the future:

7)List of moderators and VIPs. please allow this to be either priority que or active booting with out turning the server 'custom" ie not filled by the server browser. At the end of BF:1 it was horrible. Every time we had an admin join the server it randomly kick someone from the server. I saw the same person kick 4 times in one round when a few admins got off work or crashed mid round. Most admining is done from spectator mode to verify cheaters so please don't make booting an active player from the server instead of the first person in que the default.

8)The lack of team switch until later on. One of the current major issues with BF:V is lack of server balance. Going through our friends lists to currently switch good players from one side to the other is hit or miss atm.  Please prioritize this feature ASAP.

While supplies last.  There will only be so many servers.  Also free, people be taking them left and right.  Also RSP ranked excludes weekly TOW's and chapter progressions.  So not many will want RSP.

Can hardly wait to 12/09, but a hard look by dev,s is needed , you've got 4 days to  get get some of those from the missing list added, and to qute everyone else " Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will not be earnable through Community Games." So Community Games are already dead...

and not including " Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will not be earn able through Community Games."  and you still increased the total XP needed to get the gold dog tag by 741,600 XP points

When a server dies, its erased.  But they allow you to save your playsets for the server to make a new server with same house rules.  But with no TOW or chapter progression many wont use RSP.  So RSP is DOA until fixed with ranked progression.

To be honest: the reasons for which and moments I want to use or play on RSP servers I really don't care about ToW progression etc ...

When I play at FNB or other community events, I don't care about things like ToW.
