self sufficent airplanes

its laughable airplanes are almost intangible and do not need any infantry support to top scoreboards with ease.

their spotting flares are just beyond the real of reason, they drop them at the top of the skybox and you will be spotted until they run out you can not see them 9/10 times or even hit them with anything but a BAR.

at least take the flares away so they somewhat need infantry for anything

An idea would be to split the current plane loadout into a new dive bomber plane. Both factions gets a fighter and a dive bomber. Fighters will have rockets and flares, bombers will have the bombs but no flares. HE cannons could be on both as that's not nearly as problematic as being bombed.

taking away the plane flare completely because they have that issue with being too high is the equivalent of cutting of someones leg because that someone has a wound on that leg

Better treat the wound instead (the flare's hover altitude)

how do you balance them then? because in a teamplay oriented game having vehicles completely self-sufficent kinda kills the point of teamplay imo

It’s just how silly the whole experience is in BF5. I’m clearly doing something wrong. Not the best pilot for sure but I’m getting downed in under 5 seconds while putting 100s of rounds into enemies planes that just keep flying right along.

people will never be happy with planes, no matter how many nerfs they get.

Stationary AA is like better than a god damn stinger, igler, from bf4. As of recently.

The teamplay that happens so rarely that it is it is worth making for immortalizing the occasion you mean? The planes are almost blind without spotting communication which the infantry heroes provide very sparingly.

I get your point about how the assets of the game should need each other to have the maximum effectiveness. But please do remember that there is already a much more self sufficient thing in the game and it is called Assault. A game that was designed to require real teamwork would not combine the most versatile anti infantry weapons and the best and most anti tank equipment in one class.

In my opinion they need to remove being able to repair in the air, if you take enough damage you should have to land and repair. For restocking ammo flying it fine.

the air strip is not big enough to support that.

in my opinion they should remove most planes and specialisations, and make dog fighting actually fun and rewarding.

If you ever run Assault and you're sitting here complaining planes are too self-sufficient, you're a hypocrite. Planes are nowhere near as self-sufficient as you think, if there is any AA presence on the map, planes will have a tough time doing anything. Planes aren't like tanks and infantry, they don't have tens of allies in close proximity to cover their **** when they slip up, they have to strive to support themselves and be as self-sufficient as they can, and they're always relying on their team to keep the map free of AA. (Not that they really need to, no one ever uses it to begin with)
If you a plane topping the leaderboards, it's only because they haven't faced any real resistance. Quit being selfish and relying on others to take them down, hop on that AA yourself or pull out that FF and properly address the threat.

I'd actually prefer planes to have flares but a requirement to drop lower.
The lower you make planes go the more options for infantry to deal with them.

Well, yea there you go. just make them drop down to the same altitude as regular flares... I'll tell you though, playing a whole game where I am spotted and can't even find the spotting flare... I'm not playing that... its such an unreal advantage to be able to spot virtually the entire other team for like 5 minutes at a time (and the lanes have like 8 flares too?)

yea, it is unfortunate. seeing those guys on the leaderboard like 52/0 its just sickening. Even on your own team... you know some games the planes get scooped up in a fraction of a second before the round and the pilots literally stay in the plane the ENTIRE game. ackers75 said:

The AA isn't THAAAT bad in the pacific... I can take out multiple planes with those things (but they have to be bad pilots)... a good pilot knows the trick... fly over the AA at an altitude that the AA cannot reach, and drop your firebombs... AA has no chance...

or just avoid the AA altogether... not very difficult at all

Now, as far as the european AA... absolute garbage

if the pilot is good enough, (knows how to deal with AA, skilled dogfighter, a bit of a camper) then they can absolutely stay alive the whole game 100 percent...

and usually if they are good enough to stay alive the whole game... that means they are good enough to shoot down all your teams planes, bomb all your tanks and set fire to all objectives and AA. At that point, the game is over, everyone is going to quit.

oh and the best is when there is 3 planes all teaming up together, good luck with that

also, ever noticed some objectives don't even have AA in breakthrough? its stupid

It´s the german Flak 38 you´re talking about. Ever since pacific was launched, the Bofors got added there and also replaced the Flak 38 on allied positions and while being an allied Support, you can replace the Flak 38 witht he Bofors. The Bofors is actually decent, but the Flak 38 is useless.

So, you can build the Flak 38s into Bofors on the allied side? But the axis side is still stuck with the Flak 38s? This game just doesn't even make sense anymore! lol
