Aiming with turrets in vehicles.....why is it difficult on console?

Hi guys

Have you noticed how hard is it to aim with turrets and machine guns inside vehicles and emplacement?

The PC guys have no problem with this. We (the console crowd) have a very difficult time with it. It always feel very different from aiming your weapon as a soldier. It has very different acceleration, sensitivity and responsiveness. I tried and tried to adjust sensitivity in the options but I cant get it to feel like normal weapon aiming .

Turrets are also not very deadly and requires many hits to kill. Plus when in vehicle; it is usually moving , making aiming a nightmare. So imagine with all this challenge.....no wonder many players just bail out and not stay as a gunner for any land/air/sea vehicles.

Can it be fixed?

Yeah, I have the same problem. Sitting as gunner means likely of not getting kills, just getting passenger points. And when you got the tankers that won't move on to objective (even with all seats filled) you're missing out on the capture points. I've gotten to where I just use tanks as a mobile spawn point - spawn in and jump out.

Having been in a tank it is fine as it is, a moving bouncing vehicle is difficult to keep your aim.

I think most of the problem is you're working against a moving target and against a randomly moving shooting platform at the same time. The windows of time to service targets can be pretty random.

it has nothing to do with movement. it simply because the aiming speed does not get faster until like 80% of the maximal stick degree is reached, but then it jumps to max speed within like 2%. so yeah it's absolutely **** imo. no way to aim properly with it.

it's a combination or weird dead zones and acceleration curve that change depending on where the stick is

Yep guys, disable those aim assists and your problems are gone. And dont ever put those back on ;)

Yes. I noticed that. It does not feel like aiming with weapons at all

Really? You mean AA screws up with the accelerations and sensitivity of turrets?

I need to try it out. But I kinda doubt it

That actually mean DICE can easily fix it by matching turret's dead zones and acceleration curve used to the regular soldier aiming .....right?

in theory, but it's DICE, so don't hold your breath.

in and ideal world we have separate settings for acceleration, dead zones and sensitivity for all load outs.

Titanfall 2 has this done perfectly, you change all the above and set the curve to what you want, completely off if you choose.

we told DICE all this in the beta........so yeh

Yep this game also has an vehicular assist also, when u disable slowdown, then your turret will not be sluggish anymore, the auto rotation might not do anything tho, i hope :)

In planes the tail gunner sucks tbh. But I don't see it in tanks. I've had just as many kills in a heavy tank in the machine gun side seat, as my friend who was driving (both of us went 34-0)

when playing in a vehicle I turn off aim assist auto rotation & slowdown. It completely changes the way you aim for the better.

It is difficult because the devs need to fix the aim assists so that they don't completely negate player input. Something that was never a problem in vehicles in previous Battlefield games when these options were on. Sometimes tracking a moving target when using the MG in a tank will force the reticle to a complete stop.

It also says something about the aiming in this game that when the rotation aim assist is turned off in the options, that it still has a strong affect on soldier aiming with weapons.

I used to be a Beast on the Tail Guns, now they seem weak AF!!! They are constantly fiddling with the game, I wouldn't doubt they did, but never mentioned it in the Patch Notes

I think it's a combination of things. The bouncing vehicles are very extreme due to a complete lack of suspension. Drivers don't sit still. There's a very unnatural acceleration of the fixed weapons. The aim-down-sights is also toggled on and off, which I keep forgetting. Also, you have no ability to strafe to get fine adjustments like you do as infantry.
All in all, the unusable secondary seats have ruined vehicle teamwork on consoles.
