Why am I obsessed with **** symbols, you ask? Because Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, normalized them for me. When I played CoD: WWII and saw swastikas censored in not just the multiplayer, but also in many parts of the singleplayer, and Nàzi Zombies, I cringed more than seeing a swastika itself. When we censor the symbol, we give it more power. We can’t let ourselves be afraid of it, otherwise, we’re ultimately losing the war we fought against them. I don’t support Nàzism, but I firmly believe that the symbolism involved should be present where appropriate. CoD: WaW wasn’t afraid to push this envelope, and had the **** flag in the multiplayer, granted it wasn’t used to represent the Wehrmacht as part of its faction symbol.
Since World at War came out, I was starved for another edgy WWII game FOR TEN YEARS! Besides that, Battlefield V doesn’t have any gibbing. So the lack of surrealistic violence is also a major buzzkill. If you don’t agree with me, fine. You’re entitled to.
