How to Customize Bomber Class Starfighters

Bomber class Y-wings and TIE bombers are the heavy hitters of any squadron. While they can hang tough in a dogfight against the other starfighter classes, the Imperial TIE bomber and New Republic Y-wing are mainly designed to carry out bombing runs on capital ships. Use components to modify your bomber’s performance and specialization. Get started with the two examples below, and once you get familiar with customization, make sure to experiment to find a loadout that works best for you.

How to Customize Bomber Loadout, Example 1 – “Pure Anti-Capital Ship Specialist"

A pure anti-capital ship build that lacks anti-starfighter capabilities. Deals massive damage to the capital ship’s shields and hull – if it can get close enough! Relies heavily on team play as allies will need to escort you to the target. Hull, shield, and engine selection are very defensive and geared towards giving allies a wider window of opportunity to intercept enemies that are targeting you. The Ion Cannon gives you the flexibility to deal plenty of shield damage to capital ships but also ionize and stun enemy starfighters, leaving them defenseless so your allies can finish the job.

How to Customize Bomber Loadout, Example 2 – “Tank/Joust Specialist”

A defensive build that sacrifices maneuverability and aims for head-on trades against incoming enemy forces. Use the Assault Shield at the start of the joust, then drop a Seeker Mine to finish off the enemy if they manage to fly past you. Chaff keeps you protected as you turn around for the next joust. The Unstable Engine will cause you to explode on death, dealing a small amount of damage to enemies around you. This gives you a chance for instant revenge against a weakened enemy that managed a narrow victory against you during a joust. This build is useful when the location has tighter routes that encourage head-on confrontations.
