Together we create positive play
At EA, we believe in the power of positive play. Being part of a gaming community should be safe, fair, inclusive, and meaningful for all. The guidelines in this charter are key to making sure you can trust that our games and services are enjoyable for anyone, no matter who you are. Whether you’re new to gaming or have been an active player for years, we need your help to make this a community we all want to be part of.
Be the player you want to play with:
- Treat Others With Respect - Our community is diverse. Everyone should feel like they belong.
- Keep Things Fair - Winning is much more satisfying based on your own skills.
- Share Clean Content - Create and share stuff that’s appropriate.
- Follow Local Laws - Keep it legal in our games and services, just like you would IRL.
Remember the tools and controls available to you:
- EA Help - Your place to manage your account and get help from EA or the gaming community.
- Parental Controls - We give players and parents simple solutions to shape how they play including making choices on time spent playing, spending, social communication, and accessing games by rating.
- Accessibility Portal - We aim to break down barriers that prevent play.
Be aware of the consequences for unacceptable behavior and content:
- Consequences - If you don’t follow this charter or if you violate our User Agreement, we may place restrictions on your account and take away your access to certain or all EA Services.
We take action to protect our players against harmful/illegal behaviors and content.
When you sign up for an EA Account and/or use an EA Service, you agree to the rules in our User Agreement by checking the “I Agree” box. You can review the full list of rules in Section 6 of our User Agreement. Here’s a summary:
Treat others with respect
Be mindful and compassionate to anyone you interact with. We all come from different walks of life. Each of us plays a role in helping others feel welcome and like they belong.
Do:
✔ Have an open mind to what other players are saying.
✔ Be competitive and kind.
✔ Use reporting tools in-game or EA Help to report harmful or disruptive behavior.
Don’t:
✖ Be a jerk.
- Don’t harass, threaten, bully, spam or do anything else to another player or EA employee/representative that is unwanted. For example, this could mean:
- Making targeted attacks or engaging in hateful conduct around race, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religion, heritage, country of origin, and so on.
- Engaging in any form of sexual harassment or unwelcome sexual advances.
- Sending repeated unwanted messages or harassing members of the EA community; creating a new account solely to continue harassment.
- Invading another person’s privacy or attempting to identify EA users in the real world, picking fights, griefing, threatening violence or self-destructive behavior.
- Harassing EA employees/representatives, e.g. if not satisfied with a resolution.
✖ Pretend to be someone you’re not.
- That means impersonating other players, community members, celebrities, EA employees/representatives and anyone else, with the purpose to deceive or defraud. This also includes saying your uncle works at EA and can ban other players; no one’s buying it.
✖ Abuse reporting tools.
- While we always welcome feedback, don’t abuse in-game support or complaint buttons by making false reports to EA staff. You can find more info on how to use reporting tools at EA Help.
Why? These behaviors risk the safety of other humans. We may restrict your EA Account if you do these things.
Keep Things Fair
Play games the way that they are meant to be played.
Do:
✔ Understand and play within the rules of the game. You can find game rules on EA Help.
✔ Understand that fair competition is in everyone’s best interest.
Don’t:
✖ Use exploits, cheats, undocumented features, design errors, bugs or problems to get a leg up on others.
- This includes using unsupported mods, unauthorized hardware or accessories, or specialized software to gain an unfair advantage, such as “aimbots” or “triggerbots,” using bugs, exploits, or other unintended game interactions to gain in-game items.
- If you find an exploit or bug, you can let us know by reporting it.
✖ Disturb the peace or make it harder for someone else to play the game.
- This includes:
- Preventing the normal flow of gameplay, including using software or programs that damage, interferes with an EA Service or another's computer or property, such as denial of service attacks, spamming, or hacking.
- Spamming the chat or abusing formatting options in chat, such as all caps, extra-large fonts, or repeated symbols or characters.
- In-game actions, such as intentionally killing teammates, purposefully losing, blocking a teammate’s ability to move, harassing players during live streams, or blocking access to an item or access point that is affecting gameplay for other players.
- Colluding with other players to lose games or manipulate matches or results unfairly.
✖ Promote or be involved in in-game currency buying / selling / farming.
- This means using bots, going through a third-party, or using other unauthorized methods to gain in-game currency. This also includes buying / selling / trading in-game currency for real-world money. Learn the rules.
✖ Offer to sell, buy, trade, or transfer your EA Account.
- This includes giving someone else access to your EA Account, attempting to sell or selling your username and/or account, “boosting” or logging into another players’ account to level up their character, complete a level/mission, or earn a reward, or giving game lessons in exchange for compensation. You can’t share an EA account with anyone, even a family member.
Why? Cheating risks the fairness of the game for everyone. We may restrict your EA Account and access to certain or all EA Services if you cheat.
Share Clean Content
Use good judgment and share cool stuff that’s appropriate for everyone.
Do:
✔ Think twice about the content that you’re sharing - chats, avatars, team names, car wraps, and more - and ask yourself if it might be offensive to others.
✔ Show respect for other players’ content.
Don’t:
✖ Post or distribute lewd, pirated, and/or harmful content.
- For example, content that can be seen as abusive, hateful, harassing, profane, defamatory, threatening, obscene, sexually explicit, infringing, privacy-invasive, vulgar, offensive, indecent, or unlawful.
- Don’t use, share, or promote any content with computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, cancelbots, spyware, corrupted files, time bombs, or other malicious programs.
✖ Excessively curse or swear.
- Or try to get away with it by yelling into the mic, using a soundboard, typing with numbers or symbols in place of letters or by changing the order of the letters in a clearly-offensive word. We all k*** what you're trying to s**.
Why? The content you create and upload becomes part of the play experience for other people. If it’s disrespectful, or unrelated to the game, we may suspend or ban your access to EA content.
Follow Local Laws
To make things safe for everyone, keep things legal - whether in-game, IRL, or anywhere else - and report any illegal or harmful; behavior, especially if it has the potential to endanger others.
Do:
✔ Respect local laws and avoid illegal or harmful behavior or content.
✔ Report it if you see someone engaging in illegal or harmful behavior or promoting lawbreaking.
Don’t:
✖ Promote or do anything illegal in our games..
- Don’t participate in or encourage illegal, harmful or dangerous activities in our games like: doxxing, hacking, making violent physical threats, or engaging in serious inappropriate content or conduct directed to children.
- Don’t use our services for fraud, or attempt to circumvent our systems, such as through mass account creation for illegitimate purposes, deliberately making multiple payment or refund requests for the same content, using compromised accounts, or falsifying your connection to our services.
Why? We may suspend or ban your account, then contact law enforcement.
Consequences
These guidelines apply to all EA games and services. If you break the guidelines in this Charter, or the rules in EA’s User Agreement, we may place restrictions on your account and temporarily or permanently revoke your access to certain or all EA Services.
Warnings and temporary suspensions are our signals that things aren’t going right. They are our way of nudging you to remember the rules so you can make changes to stay in the game.
In some cases, we will issue permanent EA Account bans without warning to protect our players and employees from the most serious and illegal behavior. If your EA Account is banned, you will lose access to any online content associated with the account.
If you do receive a suspension or ban on your account, we’ll send you an email or you’ll see an in-game message explaining the reason for it. We take these measures to ensure our communities remain safe, fair, inclusive, and meaningful for all. If you believe that any action has been taken against your account or device by mistake, let us know.
